Profile

Acid tolerant variety ideally suited for the foothills of AB and Peace region of AB and BC

AAC Meadowview was selected from plants bred in acidic conditions, ranging from a Ph. of 4.5 to 6.0. Yield increase over check varieties was 115% of the check over six years.

AAC Meadowview’s winterhardiness and disease resistance should lead to a longer stand life, according to the  Canadian Journal of Plant Sciences. AAC Meadowview is specifically adapted to areas of southwestern Alberta (foothills) and British Columbia, and other areas where soil pH is a major limiting factor for alfalfa production. This is the only alfalfa known that is specifically bred for acid tolerance.
